Time. It is the essence of all things.

A substance so valuable we patiently wait for it, carefully spend it, and long for more of it.
It’s the architect of ideas. The master of elements. The catalyst for change.

Time:
our most precious ingredient.

Only time can work the subtle changes that reveal whisky’s truest beauty. A slow and mysterious magic, Time instils exquisite characteristics within whisky that cannot be replicated.

Each decade in oak adds a new depth of flavour, enriching the liquid with unique qualities, refining the blend until it reaches its purest, most complete state of expression. The journey to the pinnacle of Scotch is over half a century in the making, after years of devoted attention, this majestic expression was released at exactly 51 years. A number that symbolises family, freedom and adventure, it carries an energy that brings people together. For a whisky so exquisite that it unites people in celebration, its age was its destiny.

The Power of Numbers

Symbols of Power

Numbers have always been symbols of power, used to record the passing of time since the dawn of humanity. Both rational and symbolic, the explanation of the unexplainable, they are the language of the universe that connects us all.

From the ancient Greek and Chinese belief in the five elements, the creative power of five has been essential for centuries – from the five Platonic solids to the root of the Golden Ratio, a number at the heart of geometry, art and architecture.

Most importantly, five is the number of senses we have to experience the wonder of this rich and complex blend.

AWAITING ENCHANTMENT

To finish our tribute to the power of numbers, each decanter is enclosed in a case crafted from five layers of wood, one to represent each of the five decades it took for this exquisite liquid to mature.

Our relationship with the mystery of time and numerology delves further into this release than at first glance, with every detail a natural reminder of the enduring magic of time…

Each of the five layers of English oak meticulously crafted to house the precious decanter have unique markings signalling the wood’s age – the purest and most organic measure of Time.

By essence, oak is at the heart of this magnificent blend, the tree providing the finest casks in which the precious whiskies have laid, slowly maturing, for over half a century.

Like this blend, oak trees take their own leisurely time to mature, only when a tree is at least 50 years’ old does it produce its first large crop of acorns.

Our relationship with the mystery of time and numerology delves further into this release than at first glance, with every detail a natural reminder of the enduring magic of time…

Following a remarkable 51 years of maturation, this distinguished blend is characterised by rich, opulent flavours.

Years of experience and expertise allow the Master Blender to acknowledge the precise moment when the liquid reaches its most harmonious state.

A skill which cannot be underestimated, the art of blending epitomised. The distinctive amber whisky was bottled at cask strength and non-chill filtered, to preserve it at its purest form.

Nose

The blend exudes powerful notes of blood oranges, sweet aged oak, salted caramel and a rich aroma of Manuka honey. Following are wisps of sweet hickory smoke and hints of peach and bergamot.

Taste

On the palate, notes of ripe plums, orange zest and luxurious milk chocolate predominate, gently warmed by spice, touches of ginger and cinnamon.

Finish

Long, generous and velvety smooth.

Each decade has refined and enriched each of these exceptional whiskies, slowly producing an expression that is testimony to Royal Salute’s unparalleled expertise in blending ultra high-aged whiskies.
