The Art of Wonder

Forces of Nature is the first instalment in Royal Salute’s new cultural programme The Art of Wonder. Across the series, Royal Salute will collaborate with some of the most provocative artists working today.

Royal Salute will invite artist collaborators to draw inspiration from the age-old craft of whisky making, and to form a lasting tribute to creativity.

FORCES OF NATURE

Royal Salute is thrilled to join forces with celebrated British artist Kate MccGwire. MccGwire is an internationally renowned artist and has held solo shows from Paris to Hong Kong, as well as collaborating with Hermès and Helmut Lang. Working primarily with feathers, MccGwire is inspired by the cycles, patterns and dualities of nature.

INSPIRATION & PROCESS

Kate MccGwire, celebrated British artist and sculptor:

The particular feathers that I’ve used resonated very well with the colour of whisky and with the colour of the water flowing through Scotland. There are parallels between my work and the whisky making process – starting with a humble ingredient, we arrive at an end result that’s really quite magical.

OFFICIAL PARTNER OF FRIEZE

Royal Salute is thrilled to be working with Frieze as an Official Partner of Frieze London. Frieze is is one of the world’s most influential contemporary art fairs, focusing only on contemporary art and living artists, and takes place each October in The Regent’s Park, in the heart of London.
